Jim Crowley Blog | Haydock
Coral Racing Ambassador, Jim Crowley, previews his three rides at Haydock on Saturday with his "best chance of the day" coming in the final race on the card.
14:10 Haydock – Hallowed Time
Haydock is currently heavy, so hopefully they won’t get any more rain which puts the meeting in doubt. I start on Hallowed Time, who has had three runs since switching to Mark Loughnane, but this is the first run for him on turf, so that might bring out some improvement.
He has some back form which would give him a chance here, and the trainer has had a couple of winners from just a few runners recently so is in good form.
15:53 Haydock – Cards On The Table
Cards On The Table is making her first start since finishing down the field on her debut at Newbury last summer, so while I don’t know too much about her, I’m sure she will improve for this run.
The Ralph Beckett-trained Shemozzle made a winning debut last year and sets a decent standard, with Bright Thunder an interesting newcomer.
17:00 Haydock – Minstrel Knight
Minstrel Knight is making his handicap debut and turf debut after three all-weather runs which have earned him a mark of 69, so we give weight to most of these, but that also means we’re one of the best horses in the field on the evidence so far.
Ed Bethell is a talented young trainer and I hope this fellow can go close, he certainly looks my best chance of the day.
