JOE TIZZARD: 'HE'S IN THE FORM OF HIS LIFE THIS SEASON'
12:50 Windsor – Lisbane Park
Windsor have put on some great prize money for this card, so it’s great we’ve got a couple of runners here. We bought Lisbane Park following his second in an Irish point-to-point, and he got off the mark at the first time of asking impressively in his novice hurdle at Exeter. He then followed that with a fourth place in what may well turn out to be a decent EBF Qualifier at Cheltenham before Christmas, a race won by Nicky Henderson’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle contender, Old Park Star.
This is his first time in a handicap and plenty of the big yards are represented here. We’ll find out where we are with him off this opening mark of 121, but he’s a young horse we think a lot of.
15:00 Windsor – Eldorado Allen
Our other runner is at the opposite end of the age scale. 12-y-o Eldorado Allen is obviously a real yard favourite and he gave us another great day when winning at Cheltenham in November. He then followed that up with a third place finish back there last month, confirming that for whatever reason, he’s in the form of his life this season.
We had a couple of options for him this week but have come here because the 2m 6f trip will suit, he won’t mind any ease in the ground and it’s worth plenty of prize money. Protektorat sets a decent standard, while Handstands is the young up and comer, but Allen won’t let us down I know and could well outrun his odds.
SEAN BOWEN: 'HE'S GOT ALL THE ABILITY IN THE WORLD'
12:50 Windsor – Scorpio Rising
I am looking forward to riding Scorpio Rising and I think he's improved with each run to be honest. His last win at Lingfield was quite impressive, he's gone up a bit for it, but it's nice prize money and I think he'll have a great chance.
13:20 Windsor – Wade Out
Wade Out was meant to run at Warwick on Classic Chase Day, but that meeting did not beat the weather. Although he has a 100% record over fences, he has raced very lazily in those races, particularly at Cheltenham last time. He does need to wake up a little bit, as I don't think he'll get away with that around here, as it’s a sharper track. He'll need to race a bit better, but if he does, he's got all the ability in the world.
14:25 Windsor – Kap Boy
Kap Boy should have a nice chance and I thought he ran nicely enough at Kempton last time. We couldn't really go the gallop he wanted to over 2m5f, so the step up to 3m should really suit him. I think he's got a lovely weight, he'll stay well, the track and ground will suit and I think he's got a big each-way chance at a decent price.
15:00 Windsor – Resplendent Grey
I am looking forward to getting back on board Resplendent Grey. I don’t think he ran his race at Newbury on Coral Gold Cup Day, he got behind early and never got into it. This is a strong race, however and Protektorat is 11 now, so it will be interesting to see if he is still at his best.
There are two horses here that will go a strong gallop in this race. If Resplendent Grey can get into a rhythm early and if he turns up in the right mood, he'll be thereabouts. I am confident he will put that Newbury run behind him.
15:35 Windsor – Gold Clermont
I thought Gold Clermont ran really well in a four miler at Kelso last time, she looked like the winner two out and then made a bad mistake. This is a big field of 17 runners, it is a competitive race, but I will be riding to finish in the placings, and hopefully she can do so at a big price.
16:05 Windsor – Eustace Grenier
Eustace Grenier ran nicely enough at Southwell, he was dropped in and then ran on well so he should have learned plenty from that experience. There are likely to be some unexposed horses in this field and hopefully my horse takes a step forward and we will see where that takes him.
