DAVID PROBERT: 'ANDREW BALDING OFTEN TARGETS THIS MEETING'
13:20 Goodwood – Tuscan Star
Tuscan Star has been campaigned over 1m4f on the all-weather over the last few months, and he has shown improvement. He gets into this race at the bottom end of the weights with just 8st 11lb on his back, so it would be a good time to take a step forward. I am sure he will be staying on the finish line, and trainer Andrew Balding often targets this meeting with his horses.
13:55 Goodwood – Chic Colombine
This filly has been tried at Listed level, so the owners are on the lookout for some Blacktype with her. It is a valuable contest, and we do look in at the deep end, but the aim will be to run on for some decent prize money at the back end of the race. The big positive is that she is already a course and distance winner, so she enjoys it at this racecourse.
15:45 Goodwood – Bintjeddah
I am delighted to pick up the ride of Bintjeddah for William Haggas. This filly has a nice profile, and I like the look of her recent form, particularly her second-place finish at Newmarket last time. There are quite a few three-year-olds in this field, and I am sure a few of them will be progressive. My filly has a nice weight, and hopefully the cheekpieces will help bring out some improvement.
16:55 Goodwood – Cracking Gold
This horse has plenty of ability. He won at Newmarket last time, where everything worked out for him. He was raced patiently, and the gaps appeared at the right time. I will ride him the same way here. It would be great to ride a winner of Paul and Clare Rooney, as they are great owners in the sport.
HUGO PALMER: 'I HOPE SHE CAN RUN A VERY NICE RACE'
15:45 Goodwood – Patagonia Girl
I’m delighted with what this filly has achieved so far this season, she would want the ground to dry out here ideally, but I think that should be the case, as the quicker the better for her. She gets in here off an absolute bantam weight, and from stall six I hope she can run a very nice race.
JIM CROWLEY: 'I'M SURE HIS RUNNERS THIS WEEK WILL BE RARING TO GO'
15:45 Goodwood – Quebella
I haven’t ridden Quebella before, but she’s got form on quick ground, and has course experience, so two positives. We’re drawn OK in stall eight, and while this a competitive heat, her trainer [Richard Hughes] loved this meeting as a jockey, and I’m sure his runners here this week will be raring to go.
