14:05 Haydock – Driftspin
I’ve not ridden this horse before, but he has had two runs now, so he should know what it is all about. He ran well at Kempton last time out over 7f. Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole have opted to step him up to a mile, and hopefully, that can help him find some improvement.
14:40 Haydock – Chairmanoftheboard
He is coming back off a bit of a break as he last ran in May. I was on board him at York last time and he got off to a slow start which meant we gave our rivals a lot of ground. He is a horse who will enjoy the conditions at Haydock as a lot of his best form has come on soft ground. He is back down to an official rating of 86 now, and I’d like to think he can be in the mix here from that mark.
15:50 Haydock – Music Piece
This filly ran very well on her debut to finish second at Ascot behind a smart horse from Aidan O’Brien’s yard. That race was on soft ground, so that bodes well for this race. I am hoping she can take another step forward on her second run. There is a winner in the field from Sir Mark Prescott’s yard, but we will be getting 7lb from the filly, so there is every reason to be hopeful here.
