14:05 York – Grey Cuban
Grey Cuban has had another good season. He's in the Horses In Training Sale so this might be his last run for us, which would be a shame. He is possibly running out of room in handicap company and he hasn’t yet indicated he’s going to step up into stakes class, although he ran very well in a Listed race last time.
He seems in very good spirits at home, this autumnal ground should suit him and he’s run well at York before so I hope he can again here.
14:25 Newmarket – Glacius
This horse had a couple of options on the card, and I think I probably confused myself deciding which race to go for! As declaration closing time approached I had to make a decision so opted for the Autumn Stakes over a mile rather than the longer Zetland Stakes, but that was mainly down to the former having a slightly smaller field.
He’s a horse we absolutely love and the form of his second start, when fourth to Bow Echo at Haydock, has worked out particularly strongly. I did feel he was first off the bridle that day and then stayed on all the way to the line. His pedigree has plenty of stamina in it so I do think we’ll be looking at Derby trials for him next spring. Whether or not he stays the mile and a half of the Derby we’d have to wait and see, but he is a horse we really love.
He was a little bit green at Haydock, but his work since has been very good since and I think he can run a very big race here.
17:20 Wolverhampton – Looks Likely
Looks Likely is searching for her first win, but I think seven furlongs is the right trip. She should be well up to winning a race of this nature, or at least going very close if she takes to the all-weather surface.
