Coral Racing Ambassador, Hugo Palmer, previews his runners, both ridden by Oisin Murphy, on Day Two at the Goodwood Festival this week!

15.35 Goodwood – Sale Shark

Sale Shark has been drawn in stall one, so he’s out on the wing, although that might not be too much of an issue. He has loads of speed, and last time at Newbury he just got stuck in behind horses so couldn’t get going as we would have hoped. That was over six furlongs and I think the drop back to five should suit him.

He won at Hamilton over five and that’s not a dissimilar track to Goodwood, so he should be able to come down the hill here as he did at Hamilton. He’s a really interesting runner and we’re really pleased to have Oisin [Murphy] on board.

16:10 Goodwood – Seagulls Eleven

Oisin Murphy also rides Seagulls Eleven in the feature Sussex Stakes and he gets on brilliantly with him. They are drawn in stall 12 of 12, which isn’t ideal, and we also weren’t expecting such a big field. Historically, this race attracts a small number of runners but this year everything has turned up.

The market principals are all drawn low, but it might get a bit crowded on the rail, and those runners caught in behind could find traffic problems with so many runners, so it will be interesting to see how the race unfolds.

Our horse needs to produce yet another career best performance, and by quite a long way, but he’s run career bests after career bests so far this season, so I don’t think he’s done yet. Obviously this is a very, very deep Sussex field but I am hopeful he will go there and run really well. The draw is a bore, but hopefully he can spring well and get a good early position.
