Coral Racing Ambassador, Hugo Palmer discusses his runners this weekend, including one in Saratoga, USA!

Newmarket 14.30 – Regal Tiger
 
A big day in store, with a runner in the Grade 1 Saratoga Derby on Saturday night!  However, we start the day at Newmarket.

Regal Tiger should like the fast ground and improve for the step up to seven furlongs. We thought he might win over six but he just came up short last time. This is a relatively small field and if can win here, we might well run him at York later this month.
 
Haydock 15:00 – Blingy’s Sister
 
Blingy’s Sister made the long journey to Southern France last month and she’s come out of that experience particularly well. She has been eating really well and she looks fantastic! The race at Mont de Marsan was a Listed race, so she got the all-important black type by finishing second and whilst this looks like a stronger Listed contest, I am hopeful that she can run well. She should like the ground aswell, so fingers-crossed it will go really well for her.
 
Newmarket 15.05 – Rubyroo
 
First time on a racecourse for this nicely bred filly owned by Amo Racing. This is a valuable Newmarket maiden so it is bound to be quite a strong field but she is a filly that we like and her work has been pleasing, so it looks like a good starting point for her.
 
16:40 Haydock – Triple Double A
 
Triple Double A has had a wind-op, which I hope will make some difference to him. We’ve booked Harry Vigors to ride, who claims five pounds. However, he will need to step forward on what he’s shown us so far this season.
 
Haydock 5.10 – Home Hero & Phantom Watch
 
Home Hero ran at Newmarket on Thursday afternoon, so we will make the decision on whether he makes a quick reappearance or not when we know how he comes out of that race.
 
Phantom Watch was Gemma Owen’s mount in the Magnolia Cup charity race at Goodwood last week, he ran well for her and this looks a good opportunity to get him back out over a trip that he has won at previously.
 
22:52 Saratoga – Glacius

It is very exciting to have a runner in the Grade 1 Saratoga Derby and I think Glacius goes there with a chance. We looked at a couple of options closer to home; the York Stakes was nearer  to a Group 1 than Group 2 in class and the Guillaume d’Ornano, in Deauville, used to be worth a lot more prize money than it is now. So, having weighed up our options and once we were fortunate enough to get the invitation to Saratoga, we were very keen to travel.
 
We’ve got a nice middle draw in stall 6, the ground should be OK for him and we have a good jockey booked in Luis Saez. Title Roll looks as if he will be the favourite following his Belmont Derby win at the track but we’re only rated 2 pounds lower than him, so this looks like the right race for him.
 
He’s travelled out there well, taken it all in his stride and I’m really looking forwards to seeing him when I arrive at the track. Also, I am really looking forwards to having my first runner in this race!
