Coral Racing Ambassador, Jim Crowley, previews his six rides at York on Saturday afternoon, including multiple Grade One winning hurdler Marie's Rock for Nicky Henderson in the Group 3 Bronte Cup.

13:35 York – Rambuso Creek

My trip to Yorkshire last Saturday paid off with a Doncaster treble, so here’s hoping for more of the same as I head this time to York for six rides.

I start on Rambuso Creek for trainer Kevin Ryan, always a good man to have on side at this track. He’s had a couple of runs this season so far, both over five furlongs, so we’re stepping back up to six here. Less testing ground should suit him, so hopefully they won’t get any more rain here, and in an open looking heat, he’d have an each-way chance.

14:10 York – Arabie

Another good trainer to ride for here is Karl Burke, and his Arabie comes here off the back of a debut second at Thirsk last month. That was on heavy ground over five furlongs, and again, he’s another who should benefit for the better ground and the extra furlong, and with the benefit of that first run, I can see him running very well.

14:45 York – Rabaah

I’ve thought for a while that dropping this horse back to five furlongs, having done all his racing so far over six, would suit him, so now we’ll see if I was right!  He’s been gelded, and on his first run since that, at Newmarket, he showed loads of early speed before weakening, which is no surprise as it was his first run back.

As I say, I think this minimum trip will suit him, and he’s a horse I think could have a nice future, hopefully starting today.

15:20 York – Marie’s Rock

This is a lovely ride to have picked up, and as a multiple Grade One winning hurdler, she’s probably the best hurdler I’ve ever ridden, I certainly don’t recall riding many as good as her when I was a jump jockey.

This is on the flat obviously, as I’d imagine connections have one eye on Royal Ascot for her, but she’ll be fit from her jumping campaign, and Nicky Henderson is a wonderful trainer, so although this looks a decent contest, and probably not a long enough trip for her, I’m sure it could be a decent stepping stone to Ascot.

15:55 York – Rating

We’re draw 18 of 20 over seven furlongs, which is not ideal here, but equally not impossible to overcome. She comes here off the back of a decent Newmarket third, and if she steps forward from that, and we get some luck from this high draw, she could be on the premises.

17:05 York – Deceiver

It’s a similar story here, as we’re drawn 17 of 20 over the same seven furlongs, so again I’ll need some luck, but Deceiver has had a couple of runs this season so comes here fully tuned up, and dropping back to the trip he’s won off previously, could have an each-way chance.
