Joe Tizzard Saturday Blog | Musselburgh & Sandown

Coral Racing Ambassador, Joe Tizzard, has two runners out this Saturday, including the highly talented JPR One in the Scottish Champion Chase at Musselburgh who he thinks will run a big race.

14:20 Musselburgh – JPR One

Musselburgh put on some really good prize money here this weekend, so we’re making the long journey north with JPR One for the Scottish Champion Chase. Unlike the Queen Mother Champion Chase, this version is over 2½ miles, and I’ve been thinking about stepping JPR One up in trip all season. On this easy track, and on decent ground, this looks a good opportunity.

He is in that world of either having to give lumps of weight away or take on better horses, and we’re giving weight away here as he is on ratings the best horse in the race. He’s in terrific form, and has done very little wrong this season. He won over almost 2½ miles over hurdles a few years back, and I think this trip will help him travel better into the race. I really think he will run a big race and make the journey worthwhile.

15:10 Sandown – Hartington

We’ll put a line through his Windsor run last time, as the track was just too sharp for him, he was flat out the whole way. Over three miles, this should be a much more steadily run race and it will bring stamina into play, which he has plenty of. For a £100,000 race it’s not the biggest field, and on the form of his two previous runs he shouldn't be too far away here.
