Kieran O'Neill Saturday Preview: This horse is certainly capable of winning from this mark

02 Mar 2024
Coral Racing Ambassador, Kieran O'Neill, gives an exclusive preview of his four rides at Wolverhampton this evening, including Goldsmith in the 18:30.

17:30 Wolverhampton – Blue Collar Lad

I rode this horse at this course over 7f last month and he showed a lot of speed in that race, so I think a drop down to 6f will suit him. He has been given a good draw in stall one, and he is now down to a new career-low mark. This horse is certainly capable of winning from this mark so I am hopeful he can go two places better than his last run.

18:00 Wolverhampton – Coast

She won three starts back but unfortunately, things haven’t gone to plan for her in her two races since then. We have been handed a wide draw here, so it may be a case of tucking her in and trying to pick them off at the finish. If she can reproduce her old form, she will be bang there in contention.

18:30 Wolverhampton – Goldsmith

This horse has been consistent all year and he got his rewards last week at Lingfield. We have been drawn in stall one, which isn’t ideal for a hold-up horse. However, we will be hoping we get a bit of luck in running when we make our move. I rode him at home yesterday and he seems fresh and well. He has gone up 2lb in the ratings, but he is capable of defying that rise.

19:00 Wolverhampton – Gypsy Whisper

She is a horse who has dropped down the weights and in a 0-55, she should be competitive. Hopefully, there comes a point where she takes advantage of her mark. She is not getting any younger, but she is a lot wiser now. I think a lot needs to go right with her, but on her old form, she would be good enough to win this race.
