Sean Bowen Blog | Aintree Day Two
13:45 Aintree – Indeevar Bleu
Indeevar Bleu could be one of my best chances of the week to be honest, I’m really looking forward to riding him. He had a small setback before Cheltenham which was frustrating, as he was the favourite for one of the big handicaps and had to miss it. The team have trained him specifically for this race since that setback and he comes here fresh.
He won well at Aintree on his last start so we know he handles the track. I think he’s still nicely handicapped and if everything goes smoothly, he’s got a big chance.
16:05 Aintree – Booster Bob
I ride Booster Bob in the Topham who's a bit harder to pin down. Things didn’t really go his way at Cheltenham where he was running okay for a while but ended up coming down, but that’s just racing sometimes.
You never quite know how horses will take to these bigger fences and with him, you’re not always sure which version will turn up. But if he’s on a going day and jumps well, he’s definitely capable of running a big race.
16:40 Aintree – Harbour Island
Harbour Island has been in great form this season and keeps progressing, which is what you want to see. This is obviously a step up again as three miles in a Grade 1 is no easy task.
That said, he’s a solid horse and deserves his chance at this level. It’s tougher company, no doubt, but I think he could outrun his odds and hopefully get involved for a place if things fall right.
