13:35 Chepstow – Ammes
Ammes is a former Flat horse who made an impressive winning debut over hurdles at Sedgefield last month. I was on board that day, and he did everything right, winning quite readily in the end.
I think there could be much more to come from this horse over hurdles, so I am looking forward to what is an exciting ride to start the afternoon.
14:45 Chepstow – The Boola Boss
The Boola Boss finished last season in excellent form. I was on his back when he scored at Newbury. They then put a 5lb claimer on board at Chepstow to cancel out his rise in the weights.
The challenge this season will be his new handicap mark. He is now off a career-high mark of 120. Fortunately in a race like this he has a nice racing weight so if he gets into a good rhythm, he can put himself in the mix.
15:20 Chepstow – Rambo T
Rambo T’s early season form is always good, he seems to either win or be placed first time out. He won a handicap at Perth off a mark of 133, so he starts a new season as high as he has ever been. I am confident he can run a big race here, I just hope the handicapper hasn’t got hold of him now.
16:00 Chepstow – Gustapof
This horse has something interesting form in France, having been a winner over hurdles there and he has featured over fences. It is great for Rebecca Curtis that she has picked up some nice horses from France. She has told me this horse has been working nicely, so I am excited to see what he can do on the track.
17:10 Chepstow – Idefix De Ciergues
Idefix De Ciergues’ form just tailed off at the end of last season, but he did win twice early in the campaign and he was second at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day. I think he is a horse with plenty of ability and he is going to have a great chance off this mark.
