Coral Racing Ambassador, Sean Bowen, previews his one and only ride at Ayr on Saturday as trainer Cian Collins sends Brandt over the Irish Sea to take aim at the feature race of the day, the Coral Scottish Grand National.

15:35 Ayr – Brandt

I am very excited to ride in this year’s Coral Scottish Grand National. This is one of the races, and indeed race days, all jockeys in the weighing room look forward to riding. There will be a huge crowd there at Ayr, and we know just how big this race is in Scotland.

I haven't ridden my horse before, but he has some excellent form in Ireland in staying races. He is a couple of pounds out of the handicap, but that should not matter too much.

With just 10st2lb to carry, we are going to be getting weight from the rest of the field. There are no question marks about his stamina, and he has some decent form on fast ground, so there is a lot to like about him. I think he is going to outrun his odds.

This race has come a week after the Grand National. Three Card Brag gave me a great spin for a long time. He jumped well but he just didn’t quite stay in the closing stages. I think he was probably just a little too exuberant in the early stages which is why he didn’t quite see things out. If I can ride the winner of the Coral Scottish Grand National, it would be the icing on the cake this season.
