13:35 Market Rasen – Master Haku

I'm on Master Haku for Gordon Elliott in the opening race on the card and you always have to respect anything Gordon sends over. He's rated 125, which gives him a strong chance on the figures, although the Skelton horse sets a good standard and Dan's team have been flying.

My horse hasn't quite been in the same sort of form recently, but if he can get back to the level he showed in his novice and maiden hurdle days earlier in the season, then I'd like to think he'll go there with a live chance.

14:10 Market Rasen – High Fibre

This will be High Fibre's first run over hurdles since moving to James Owen's yard. He ran a really good race on the Flat at York just eight days ago, and hopefully that will have sharpened him up for this.

He's a decent horse on the Flat and I still think he's well handicapped over hurdles. If he settles and transfers that recent Flat form back over jumps, then hopefully he can be competitive.

14:45 Market Rasen – Pour Les Filles

I've won on Pour Les Filles before, he's run well on his last couple of starts and I still think there's a bit more improvement to come from him. He's been dropped 2lb since his latest run, which certainly won't hurt.

He seems in really good form at home and Mickey and Dad have always had a good record in this race, so hopefully he can put up another big performance.

15:20 Market Rasen – Forest Spirit

Forest Spirit had been very consistent until her last run, when things just didn't quite happen for her. Maybe Cartmel didn't really suit, so I'm happy to put a line through that effort.

She drops back to two miles, which is a slight question mark, but there are only five runners, and she carries very little weight. If she can bounce back to her previous form, she should have every chance of running well.

17:15 Market Rasen – Prince Quattro

Prince Quattro has been in good form on the Flat and James Owen has done a brilliant job with horses switching between the two codes.

He hasn't run over jumps for a little while, but if he can bring that recent Flat form with him, then hopefully he'll have a good chance in the last race.

Market Rasen's Summer Plate Meeting

Market Rasen is one of the highlights of the summer jumping calendar and it's the biggest chase meeting of the season so far. The prize-money is excellent and it's a meeting everyone wants to be at. It's a meeting I've been lucky enough to have succes at before, and hopefully I can enjoy another good afternoon there on Saturday.

Early Stages of Jockeys' Championship

It's still very early in the Jockeys' Championship, but Harry Skelton has made a really strong start. Dan Skelton's horses have been flying, and they've clearly targeted getting off to a fast start, so Harry is always going to ride plenty of winners. It gives me something to chase, but hopefully I'll have enough opportunities over the season to get myself back to the top of the table. I've made a decent start to the campaign, so it could turn out to be a real ding-dong battle between Harry and myself.
