12.40 Wetherby – Marlacoo
This horse won a bumper for Stuart Crawford in Ireland and was then sold for some decent money. He jumped nicely at Warwick on his hurdles debut, and he is bound to come forward for that run. If he does step up, he will have an excellent chance here in the opener at Wetherby.
14:22 Wetherby – Thunder Rock
He is the second highest-rated runner in this Grade Two field, but he does not have to carry a penalty like Dashel Drasher. He produced a mixed bag of performances last season, with the highlights being his Listed successes at Carlisle and Kelso. If he does turn up with his best form, he is more than good enough to prevail in this field.
15:32 Wetherby – Alnilam
This horse won nicely on his first start for Olly Murphy. He was quite keen that day, but he galloped to the line. Unfortunately, it was a little stretch for him at Aintree last time. He has the hood on this occasion. This run will tell us a lot about where we go for the rest of the season.
16:08 Wetherby – Harjo
He was back over hurdles on his seasonal reappearance where he pulled up after losing his action. I am not sure what went wrong as I did not ride him that day. On his old form, he is well-handicapped, but he must get it together again as he has been disappointing recently.
