Coral Racing Ambassador, Sean Bowen, previews his four rides at Worcester on Friday, including Regal Renaissance in the Chase Series Final.
13:30 Worcester – Little Ledgend
Little Ledgend was quite frustrating over hurdles, as he was placed a lot without managing to win, and I always felt there was a bit more to come from him than he was showing. He proved that on his first start over fences at the first level, when he absolutely hosed up. His jumping was good that day, he travelled very strongly and won very easily, so I was delighted with him.
It is a step up in trip on Friday, but there are only five runners, so hopefully we’ll be able to ride him a little bit patiently. I think he should be fine over the trip, and he’s got a nice weight as well, so I’m looking forward to riding him again.
14:05 Worcester – Regal Renaissance
Regal Renaissance has been very consistent since switching to Jack Jones’ yard. She’s run some really good races for him and has been placed a couple of times now.
She has probably reached the top of her handicap a little bit though, so I’m not sure she’s necessarily on the right side of the handicap at the moment. That said, it’s a very valuable race worth £50,000, and she should give her running again.
Hopefully she can put in another good performance and run her race, and we’ll see where that takes us.
14:40 Worcester – Road To Wembley
I’m really looking forward to riding Road To Wembley. He’s taken to hurdling very, very well and seems to really enjoy his jumping.
He won over course and distance last time, which is obviously a big positive, and hopefully that experience around Worcester will stand him in good stead again.
It’s another valuable race, being a £125,000 race, so it’s one you’d obviously like to win. It looks competitive all the way through, but he should be competitive as well and I’m looking forward to seeing how he gets on.
15:50 Worcester – Secret Trix
Secret Trix is another horse whose handicap mark hasn’t really done him any favours, to be honest. He’s at the top of his handicap and has been struggling to win, and obviously he’s not getting any younger either.
He had generally been consistent until his last run, but perhaps Bangor just wasn’t his track. It’s a sharp track there, whereas Worcester is more of a galloping track, so hopefully a return to a course like this can see him put his best foot forward.
He’ll need to improve on what his handicap mark is telling us though, and while he’s capable of running a good race, his best might just see him finish in the places again.
