14:32 Chepstow – Little Lady Rock
Little Lady Rock ran well at Newton Abbot last time out over 2m1f, where she was beaten just a head in a close three-way finish. She steps up to 3m now and I’m confident she has the stamina to handle the trip. It’s an open-looking contest, with the majority of the field having a chance. She has to carry a penalty for her victory at Market Rasen back in July but if she improves for this step up in trip, she has an excellent chance of doubling her tally under Rules.
15:12 Chepstow – Queenie St Clair
Queenie St Clair was a rapid improver for Nick Schofield last season, going from a mark of 105 to 130. Her last run over hurdles at Ayr was a little flat but she can be forgiven for that as it came at the end of a long campaign. The spin on the Flat at Ffos Las two weeks ago should have sharpened her up for this. She is off a tough mark but we’re hoping there is still more improvement to come from her.
15:43 Chepstow – Handmedownastar
Handmedownastar is a lovely horse. He won over hurdles when Seamus Mullins had him and after switching to Nick Schofield’s yard, he produced a lovely performance to prevail at Kelso. This horse is a chaser in the making but we’re hoping he can have some success in graded company over hurdles before we go chasing. He has a little to find with some of these on the ratings but he deserves his shot at this Grade Two contest based on what he did at Kelso last month.
