Who's your Banker of the Day on Saturday?
This Saturday, the sprinters take centre stage, as we look forward to two quality 6f contests; the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury, followed by the day's feature race, the Ayr Gold Cup.
We've picked out 4 of the strongest looking runners over the weekend and want to know, if you had to pick one, who your Banker of the Day would be.
The horse who gets the most votes will be put into an exclusive Coral Racing Club Odds Booster that will be available on Saturday morning under Specials on the Horse Racing page.
Banker of the Day Preview
SENSE OF DUTY is undefeated in four races since being beaten by a head in her debut run, all of which were over 6f, and she steps down to 5f for the first time this weekend in the Group 3 World Trophy Stakes that opens the Newbury card. The 4-year-old filly has been off the track since winning the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle with ease in June of 2022. Can she return with a bang on Saturday?
The next Group 3 contest of the day is the Firth Of Clyde Stakes at Ayr, where RAQIYA is a solid odds on favourite. After finishing a disappointing 4th on debut in July, the filly has strung together back-to-back wins over 6f and looks to add a first Group race victory on Saturday. Can she claim another big race win in the famous Shadwell silks?
Newbury's feature race of the day is the Mill Reef Stakes, a two-year-old sprint over 6f and MISTER SKETCH for Eve Johnson Houghton and Charles Bishop leads the market. After being beaten by a neck on debut over course and distance, the colt scored by a massive 9.5 lengths at Salisbury last month. Can he back that form up and claim the Group 2 contest?
Jim Crowley retains the ride on ORAZIO in the Ayr Gold Cup, after the four-year-old struggled on the bottomless ground in the Coral Stewards' Cup at Goodwood last time out. Can the colt get back to winning ways and claim his third victory of the season on Saturday?
