Who was your Star Performer of the Aintree Festival

We had three excellent days of racing from Aintree, with superstars from the UK and Ireland competing in top quality contests throughout the meeting.

The question is, who was your Star Performer of the Aintree Festival and why?

Il Etait Temps opened the meeting with a storming nine length win over Cheltenham runner up Ginny's Destiny before Sir Gino justified favouritism in the Juvenile Hurdle, after bouncing back from the illness that kept Nicky Henderson's runners out of the Cheltenham Festival. Gold Cup second, Gerri Colombe, showed his class in the Aintree Bowl, keeping on well towards the end to battle to victory over Ahoy Senor. Impaire Et Passe followed that with an impressive performance, getting up to win the Aintree Hurdle by a nose over Bob Olinger and Coral Cup winner Langer Dan.

Friday was another day for the favourites, as the first four won their respective races. Inothewayurthinkin opened the card with a strong victory in the Mildmay Novices' Chase before Kateira kept on well to win the following Handicap Hurdle. Mystical Power confirmed his Cheltenham form , with victory in the Top Novices' Hurdle and Jonbon bounced back from his second in the Clarence House to win the Melling Chase.

The Grand National took centre stage on Saturday, but before that Brighterdaysahead won by a big margin in the Mersey Novices' Hurdle and Strong Leader won the Liverpool Hurdle in style. In the Grand National, there were a handful of runners still in contention going over the last, but I Am Maximus came home strongest, passing Delta Work and Minella Indo after the elbow, to win by an eventual seven and a half lengths.
