Who was your Star Performer of the Cheltenham Festival?
Tuesday saw the usual Cheltenham roar as the flag was dropped for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, and Slade Steel kickstarted a week of Irish domination for Henry de Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore. Gaelic Warrior put all of the doubts surrounding his jumping, and his tendency to pull right, when taking the Arkle by a clear distance. State Man and Lossiemouth completed the treble of Willie Mullins and Paul Townend favourites in the Champion Hurdle and Mares' Hurdle respectively.
Wednesday saw a treble of hot favourites getting backed, and it was a perfect start as Ballyburn and Fact To File got the punters off to a flyer. Langer Dan and Unexpected Party landed a spectacular double for Dan Skelton, either side of Captain Guinness winning the Champion Chase, after El Fabiolo was pulled up.
Grey Dawning overturned the form with Ginny's Destiny in Thursday's opener, before Protektorat landed the Ryanair for the Skeltons who had a fantastic week. Teahupoo justified his short price in the Stayer's Hurdle, scoring by over three lengths to former winner Flooring Porter.
Friday's main event was the one hundredth running of the Gold Cup, which saw Galopin Des Champs claim his second victory in-a-row in the race, beating out Gerri Colombe and Grand National winner Corach Rambler. Elsewhere on the card, JP McManus had a one-two in the Mares' Chase with Limerick Lace and Dinoblue, meanwhile Better Days Ahead closed out the week with victory in the Martin Pipe.
