Star Performer of the Weekend

This weekend's feature racing action took place at Haydock, including the Listed Achilles Stakes, the Group 3 Lester Piggott Fillies' Stakes and the Group 3 John Of Gaunt Stakes.

And with Royal Ascot right around the corner, this could've been the final prep run for many before heading to the showpiece event of the summer.

The question is, who was your Star Performer of the Weekend and why?

The Listed Achilles Stakes opened the card at Haydock on Saturday, with Believing coming out on top by a widening two and three quarter length margin at the finish. George Boughey's four-year-old was asked the question by jockey Daniel Tudhope around a furlong from home and skipped clear of the field to win comfortably.

The filly has since moved into 12/1 (from 33/1) for the King Charles III Stakes, and into 16/1 (from 25/1) for the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.

Queen Of The Pride held on gamely to win the first Group 3 contest of the day, the Lester Piggott Fillies' Stakes, beating out Lady Boba by a short head. John and Thady Gosden's filly hit the front a furlong from the finish, but edged left under Oisin Murphy in the closing stages of the contest allowing the strong staying Lady Boba to get closer under Rossa Ryan, who only just fell short in her late rallying attempt.

Tiber Flow claimed the Group 3 John Of Gaunt Stakes next, staying on well to win for William Haggas and Tom Marquand. Despite being short of room for the whole race, Marquand managed to pull the gelding out to the left to make headway on the field, before finding himself short of room once more and having to battle through a small gap. He hit the front inside the last half a furlong and kept on to finish a length clear of Sirona and Pogo.

The favourite going into the race was Witch Hunter, who finished down the field in a disappointing 9th, however his price remains unchanged at 16/1 for the Queen Anne Stakes.
