Star Performer of the Weekend

There was no shortage of high quality racing this weekend, with the Curragh's Irish Derby Meeting, the Northumberland Plate Meeting at Newcastle and Newmarket's Premier Raceday on Saturday headlined by the Group 3 Criterion Stakes.

The questions is, who was your Star Performer of the Weekend and why?

Noble Dynasty kept up his form this season, following his Guineas Weekend victory at Newmarket, with another success at HQ in the Group 3 Criterion Stakes. The Godolphin gelding is likely to be next seen at Goodwood, where he holds an entry in the Lennox Stakes.

Over at Newcastle on Saturday, Alphonse Le Grand made it a consolidation race double by following up his Chester Vase success by winning the Northumberland Vase. Hollie Doyle always looked comfortable on the five-year-old and developed him with a furlong to go before staying on strongly to win by over a length. Onesmoothoperator took the win in the feature race of the day, the Northumberland Plate. Brian Ellison's runner was held up in the rear by Connor Beasley in the early stages of the race, before finding his rhythm and sailing up the inside to win by over two lengths.

At the Curragh, the favourites all obliged in the three Group level contests on the card. Truly Enchanting put in a fine run to win the Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes, before Jan Brueghel scored in the Group 3 International Stakes. Aidan O'Brien's colt has entries in the Goodwood Cup at Glorious Goodwood, as well as the Juddmonte International at York where he's priced up at 50/1. The feature race of the day followed this, the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes, in which Bluestocking reined in Emily Upjohn inside the final furlong to land the victory. Ralph Beckett's filly has moved into 5/1 (from 8/1) for the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot later in the month after winning. Emily Upjohn has drifted to 20/1 (from 12/1) for the Coral-Eclipse this weekend, and is unmoved in the market at 16/1 for the Ascot King George.

On Sunday, Ryan Moore produced another incredible ride in a year that he's had so many highlights, when finding the gap in the final two furlongs onboard Los Angeles to storm ahead of short priced favourite Ambiente Friendly, who incidentally lost second in the final strides of the race. Los Angeles has shortened slightly in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes market, moving from 12/1 into 10/1, meanwhile Ambiente Friendly has seen his price drift from 12/1 to 20/1 for the Juddmonte International at York.
