Who was your Star Performer of the Weekend?
ARREST kicked off the Newbury card in style for John and Thady Gosden in the Geoffrey Greer Stakes under the guidance of Frankie Dettori. The colt made all from the front and never looked back, being eased down towards the finish to score by and eventual 1.5 lengths.
HENRY LONGFELLOW travelled strongly in the shadow of Spanish Flame for the majority of the Irish Futurity Stakes, before Ryan Moore pressed the button and took up the lead two furlongs out. The two-year-old justified his short odds to maintain his unbeaten record, winning comfortably by 2 lengths.
WITCH HUNTER provided the surprise of the Newbury card, coming from last to first to win the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes. Sean Levey switched the gelding to the right at the perfect time just over a furlong out to stay on strongest, claiming Witch Hunter's first Group success in the process.
Onto Sunday, where the Prix Morny at Deauville saw the Simon and Ed Crisford-trained VANDEEK get up in the final strides to beat even money favourite Ramatuelle. On very soft ground, the colt stayed on best of all to make headway in the last two furlongs before eventually getting in front at the line to win by a short-neck.
