KINROSS justified favouritism in the Group 2 City Of York Stakes, staying on strongly to keep the field at bay and eventually winning by three-quarters of a length. Frankie Dettori positioned the gelding in midfield and began making steady headway two furlongs out, before pushing the button and hitting the front inside the final furlong. Was that the most impressive performance of the weekend?
That wasn't the end of Frankie Dettori's day though. The retiring jockey rode ABSURDE to victory in York's headline race of the day, the Ebor Handicap. The Willie Mullins-trained five-year-old raced in midfield for the majority of the race, before switching to the near-side rail and hitting the front with two furlongs to race. The gelding showed tenacity to claim victory, with favourite Sweet William bearing down on him in the last 100 yards. Was Frankie's third Ebor victory the highlight of the weekend?
William Buick rode his first of two winners on the day onboard INQUISITIVELY in the Roses Stakes. The two-year-old colt was always prominent in the race, before eventually pulling to the front a furlong from home. William Buick rode him out to score comfortably by two lengths. Did Inquisitively's maiden victory impress you on Saturday?
Last but not least, OCEAN QUEST won the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes with relative ease on Sunday. The fiily disputed the lead for much of the early going of the race, before being pushed by Shane Foley and going clear two furlongs out. Winning by a wide margin just under four lengths, were you impressed by that performance the most this weekend?
