Star Performer of the Weekend
The first Class 1 contest of the day took place at Beverley, with the Bullet Sprint taking centre stage at the Yorkshire track, where Democracy Dilemma (8/1) provided a slight shock result as the gelding made all for Robert Cowell. The trainer landed the race for the first time ever ahead of the well supported Albasheer (9/2) who finished second for Archie Watson.
It was a day for the favourites in the Group 3 contests at Sandown, as Tamfana (13/8) took the spoils in the Atalanta Stakes before Field Of Gold (5/4) obliged in the Solario Stakes later on the card.
Over at Chester, Willie Mullins took the feature race – the Listed Chester Stakes – as Absurde (5/2) overturned well backed favourite Caius Chorister (15/8). Elsewhere on the card, the Coral Racing Club's very own trainer, Hugo Palmer, landed a quickfire double on the card with Balon d'Or (11/2) and It Ain't Two (7/2) winning back-to-back races for the local trainer.
Over the Irish Sea, there were also three Group 3 contests taking place at the Curragh, with short price favourites Dreamy (6/5) and Ides Of March (2/5) landing a double for the dream team of Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore, before Tarawa (11/2) denied the pair a treble of Group 3 wins, beating favourite Wingspan (7/4) a length and a quarter into third.
