Who was your Star Performer of the Weekend?
13:50 Champagne Stakes (Group 2)
In the opening race of the card on Saturday, IBERIAN was held up early by Tom Marquand, taking aim from the rear of the leading group whilst still being in touch. The colt began making solid headway from just over a furlong out before Marquand pulled the trigger and and took the lead inside after passing the 1f pole. Despite drifting out to the right in the final stages of the race, he stayed on well to win by a comfortable two length margin.
15:00 Park Stakes (Group 2)
SANDRINE scored in the second Group 2 contest of the day, the Park Stakes, for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy. The only filly in the race, in reception of 3lbs from the rest of the field, raced keenly in midfield before staying on well inside the final furlong to take the lead and score in nice fashion.
15:35 St Leger Stakes (Group 1)
In the feature race of the week on Saturday, the dream team of Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore combined with CONTINUOUS who romped to victory in the final British Classic of the year. After being held up in the rear of the field, despite taking a keen hold, Moore began letting him go with three furlongs left to run and when the jockey switched him to the right, the colt never looked back and strolled to victory.
15:35 Sceptre Fillies' Stakes (Group 3)
In the final group race of the weekend on Sunday, Oisin Murphy picked up his second group victory onboard MATILDA PICOTTE. She made all of the running in the Sceptre Fillies' Stakes and quickened nicely in the final stages to score a resounding victory by over three lengths.
