The club's Hugo Palmer-trained two-year-old Cast No Shadow has today been declared for the 16:12 EBF Novice Stakes at Newcastle on Friday.

He was last seen just under two weeks ago at Lingfield where he finished a pleasing 4th following a three month lay-off after his debut run at Ripon in July.

Tom Marquand gave him a nice ride that day at Lingfield, but he was caught a little wide for most the way round which made things trickier than we'd have liked, but what was most pleasing was how he finished the race once he got into the final straight.

Hugo Palmer instantly told us after that run and as we reported here on the Hub, that he'd like Cast No Shadow to run over a straight five furlongs, and he took no time at all in mentioning Friday's race at Newcastle as the next destination for our colt.
