'He’s maintained his fitness well' – latest update as Cast No Shadow gets closer to return
Cast No Shadow is looking really well at the moment, and although we haven’t been able to do any work on the gallops with him, he’s been doing plenty of swimming.
This has meant he’s been able to maintain his fitness and he really enjoys being in the pool. It’s a great way to keep him ticking over whilst allowing him to recover from those sore shins.
I’d say he’s pretty much there now with getting over it to be honest, but we never like to rush our younger horses. Although he’s pretty much ready to get back to full work, we’ll probably keep him swimming for a few more days and look to get him back cantering at some stage next week.
As I say, he’s maintained his fitness well, so he’s not going to need lots and lots of work to get him ready to race again. All being well hopefully we can start looking at entries for him from early September.
We were delighted to host our first Coral Racing Club stable visit on Thursday morning, and the whole team really enjoyed welcoming the members to Manor House. I know some of them had travelled a long way, so I’d like to thank them for making the journey, and I do hope they enjoyed their morning with us.
