Cast No Shadow entered at Chelmsford after pleasing Hugo Palmer in recent work at home
I’m delighted to report that Cast No Shadow is fine form at home, and he seems to be moving really well.
He was a tad stiff in the days after his narrow defeat at Southwell a few weeks ago, but it didn’t take long for him to get over that, and he’s really been pleasing us with his work in recent days.
As I’ve said before, I’d really like to win a race with him before we give him a bit of a break because these races are only going to get stronger as we move closer to the spring. We’ve entered him in a race at Chelmsford on Saturday, and it’s a restricted maiden over 6f, so it could be ideal for him.
I know he disappointed when we tried 6f at Kempton a few runs ago, but I’d say we’ll ride him a bit differently here as Chelmsford is a bit of a speed track, so we’ll just allow him to use his pace a bit more.
He’s not a definite runner because I’d like to track the declarations on Thursday morning and see how the race is looking before making a final decision. Jungle Mac of Jack Channon’s is rated 79, so he looks the one we’d have to beat, but it certainly doesn’t look the strongest race in the world, so we’ll have a look what the race is looking like on Thursday, and then we’ll make a decision from there.
