WATCH: Hugo Palmer gives us a detailed look into Cast No Shadow's setback from earlier this year and what steps he's had to take so far in his recovery

Last month as we headed to Manor House Stables to meet our new two-year-old gelding for the first time, we also got the latest on Cast No Shadow from trainer Hugo Palmer who hasn't been seen in action since the end of January.

After finishing a well beaten last at Southwell on the 22nd, Cast No Shadow was checked over by the vet at the racecourse who discovered that he had bled. Now although this may sound harsh when first reading, it's a very regular occurrence with racehorses and it essentially occurs when they push their respiratory capabilities to the limit and they end up bursting a blood vessel.

Coral Ambassador, Chris Hughes, was our man on the ground at Hugo's that day and he got the lowdown on exactly what causes a racehorse to bleed, how it can impact them and what the recovery steps look like.

Tune in to our latest video update to find out all of that and more with Chris and Hugo.
