Cave Article made it three wins from just seven starts over fences last Monday when adding the Class 5 Handicap Chase (14:30) at Southwell to his record.

Our six-year-old gelding is still very much learning his trade over the bigger obstacles, but since finishing third on his chase debut at Wincanton back in November last year, he's done nothing but improve with each run.

Jack Tudor was booked to ride, who despite being in the saddle for his first two racecourse appearances over hurdles, hadn't been involved since he progressed to fences. However, with Jack more often than not being the jockey Christian calls upon for the big rides, including with the likes of Kitty's Light and Cap Du Nord in the past, we only saw this as a positive.

As the race got underway, Jack steadied Cave Article towards the rear of the field, allowing the likes of Getthepot and Eightytwo Team to take them along. He jumped well throughout, and was certainly more assured compared to his previous outing at Warwick where he struggled to get into any sort of rhythm.

With the contest beginning to heat up as they turned for home, Jack began to ask Cave Article for more, ensuring he wasn't going to hide from any battles up the home straight. And that he didn't. The pair jumped the last fence a length clear of the nearest pursuer, and then they bounded clear to win by four and a half lengths.

A few days after the victory, trainer Christian Williams sent us through this lovely video as Cave Article enjoyed some recovery time in the River Ogmore, whilst Christian reflected on his third win for the club.
