Cave Article claims prize money with an encouraging fifth place finish on his return to the racecourse | Raceday Highlights

10 Apr 2026
Following a massive 231 days off the track, Cave Article made his return to the action at Taunton on Thursday, in the Class 5 Handicap Chase over 2m7f.

Cave Article started off just in behind the leaders in the contest as School For Scandal led the field of seven out in the early stages. Considering the amount of time he's spent off the track, Cave Article's jumping was very good for the most part, and he made next to no errors of note over any of the seventeen fences that he faced.

As the race progressed, Cave Article maintained his position in midfield as McGregor's Charge and Christian Williams' other runner, Illogical Logic, began to struggle. Our seven-year-old made his way forward and began to put a little pressure on the leading trio as the field approached the final four fences, but then after jumping the second last he began to tire. The front three were clear at that point and the victory was comfortably claimed by Boys Of Wexford for the Henry Oliver team with Cave Article coming home in 5th.

The fifth place finish that Cave Article achieved did win each of his lucky Owners for the Day a share of £285 for his efforts, claiming his eleventh prize scoring finish from 15 total runs under rules and increasing his total earnings to over £15,000.

Cave Article has since made the short journey back to South Wales and Christian is happy with how he's come out of the race as you can see in the video below.

Hopefully it won't be long before we get to see our seven-year-old chaser back in action as we move towards the summer months, where he's likely to get the better ground that he's thrived on so much in the past. As always, when his next entry comes through, you could be one of his Owners for the Day by entering our next competition so be sure to keep an eye out for that.
