WATCH: Cave Article delivers on early promise with comfortable win at Sedgefield | Raceday Highlights
It's been long in the mind of the Welsh trainer that Cave Article would make into a promising young chaser following his opening four runs over hurdles, and he duly delivered last week under a lovely ride from former Champion Jockey, Brian Hughes.
Cave Article made a pleasing chase debut just a couple of weeks before heading to Sedgefield when finishing third at Wincanton, but this time he was stepping up in trip from 2m4f to 3m2½f, and this really helped unlock the improvement we were hoping for.
Here's what Christian had to say after Cave Article's win:
"I've been really pleased with Cave Article this year. I thought he'd improve for a fence and he obviously proved that on just his second start. He's a good fluent mover, so I think with a bit nicer ground he'll jump and travel even better. He's sure to strengthen up as he's still only five, so we'll hopefully have plenty of fun in the spring and summer next year.
We'll probably freshen him up a bit now and give him three or four weeks off the track and find his next race around about that time."

The handicapper was clearly impressed by the performance as Cave Article's mark was raised by 7lb up to 81, but now that he's got his head in front for the first time, there's hopefully plenty more to come from our talented young chaser.
Stay tuned for the next update from Ogmore Farm as we look forward to finding out how Cave Article has progressed after his short break and where could be heading for his next race.
