Cave Article: Latest Sedgefield performance, interview with Adam Wedge and an update from Christian Williams
He was well supported in the build-up to the race, having been as big as 6/4 early in the day, before getting sent off as the even money favourite for the contest. Adam Wedge, who was riding for the Coral Racing Club for the first time, held Cave Article together in second place for much of the early running behind previous opponent, Old Page, who also took up the running when they last met.
Our six-year-old gelding travelled well throughout the contest, but on a couple of occasions put in an uncharacteristic jump which perhaps disrupted his rhythm. As the field turned for home, it was Cave Article who just had his head in front, but all three opponents were still going strong, and none more so than Ladronne who was rated 19lbs higher than Cave Article.
The two were going head-to-head as they approached the final fence, but it was Ladronne who swooped through to take the lead and went clear on the run in to win comfortably by ten lengths. Cave Article looked set to follow him home in second place, but weakened on his run to the line and lost second position in the last half a furlong, and just held on to keep third place ahead of stablemate Prince Cleni.

Despite coming home in third place, the result still landed his lucky 10 Owners for the Day £1,090 in prize money, with each of them getting to take home a 10% share.
Christian Williams provided us with this update the morning after the race, and laid out his plans for the coming days with Cave Article:
"Cave Article seems well this morning and he did so immediately after the race as well. He hasn't been finishing strongly in his last few runs. Even when he won at Sedgefield in December he got to the end of the race travelling well and made hard work of it in the run in.
I plan to gastro scope a few of my other horses next week so I might look to get him checked over at the same time just to be sure ulcers aren’t niggling him."
