Scottish Grand National Meeting the target for Cave Article – latest from Christian Williams
I’ve had Cave Article a few weeks now and I am very pleased with the progress he has shown since he arrived. He is a very straightforward horse who goes about his work with no trouble at all.
He is very close to his first run, so it won’t be long before you see him on the track. I am going to look at some options for him over the next couple of weeks and I will update you of the races I have in mind.
This horse has all the makings of being a lovely three mile chaser in the future, however, we are going to start over hurdles first. He has done plenty of schooling over hurdles so there is no reason why he can’t be successful this year.
I’d hope to run him two or three times before the season is out. He is a horse who will appreciate decent ground, so I wouldn’t want to run him in any sort of testing conditions.
I’ve got the Coral Scottish Grand National Meeting at Ayr in mind for him in April in the race I won a couple of years ago with Stringtomybow. Obviously, we will have to see how he fares before then, but it would be great for the Coral Racing Club to have a runner at that fantastic two-day meeting.
