Diamond Days ticking away nicely at home as wait for more suitable ground continues
He just found the good going at Hereford last time too much for him, whereas his excellent run at Lingfield the time before was on heavy ground. I don’t think he needs it that soft, good to soft or softer would be fine, but we’ll definitely keep him away from good going.
Although the forecast for much of the country is dry and fine for the next week, that can change quickly enough, and there’s still plenty of time to get him out again, as we wouldn’t turn him out for the summer for at least another month or so. We’ll keep him ticking over at home and keep an eye on the weather.
If we didn’t manage to run him again before his summer break it wouldn’t be the end of the world. This season was all about getting him handicapped and giving him some experience, and we’ve managed to do both those things, and if we have to wait until the autumn to bring him back, so be it.
He’s a lovely young horse whose best days are very much ahead of him.
