Brendan Powell suffers broken arm after Diamond Days unseated at the first at Plumpton

03 Nov 2026
Diamond Days suffered an unfortunate incident at the first fence at Plumpton on Monday, where he unseated rider, Brendan Powell, before falling himself in the process.

Diamond Days started off the contest trying to get a prominent position in the field as they approached the first flight. It was at this point that our six year old made an error which threw Brendan Powell forward and eventually off in front of Diamond Days, who then fell in turn after clipping the downed jockey.

Brendan Powell was taken to a local hospital after being treated by medical staff on the ground where it was confirmed that he had broken his arm. He'll be set for a spell on the sidelines whilst he recovers from the fall, but thankfully the injury wasn't as serious as it might have been.

Diamond Days came out of the incident fine and, as you can see in the video above, trotted up okay the following morning.

Everyone at the Coral Racing Club wishes Brendan a speedy recovery and we hope to see him back in the Winners' Enclosure once he's ready to return.
