WATCH: 'He was very disappointing in all fairness' | Joe Tizzard honest but optimistic about Diamond Days following latest run at Taunton
The vibes from the Joe Tizzard team going into the race were full of optimism as Diamond Days had been working well at home and came into the race 2lb lower than when finishing a good second over hurdles at Lingfield in January last year. Brendan was positive from the start and sent Diamond Days on from the front, leading the nine runner field alongside Gorcombe And Wise.
As they passed half way, Diamond Days had to be encouraged along by Brendan after lugging to the right on a few occasions and seemingly not enjoying the company at the head of the field. The response wasn't what Brendan would've liked, and as the race entered the closing stages, he opted to pull Diamond Days up as he felt he'd ran his race.
The reaction from Brendan and Joe after the contest was that both weren't able to put their finger on exactly why he didn't run to form, but in Joe's latest video update he does mention that he's keen to wait for better ground conditions and that he's likely to step Diamond Days up in trip again.
Tune in to see what else Joe had to say as he continues to keep the faith in our six-year-old and stay tuned for the next update from Venn Farm.
