WATCH: Joe Tizzard updates us on Diamond Days progress over summer as we edge closer to his seasonal debut
Last season, Diamond Days made the transition from hurdling to chasing, before running one last time in February back over hurdles. Joe decided it would be best to put him away from that point on, giving him a good break ahead of a second season over fences.
Check out the video above to see what Joe had to say about Diamond Days in the early part of his return to the yard.
It shouldn't be too long until we see Diamond Days back out on track, and we caught up with Joe Tizzard yesterday to find out what he had in mind for Diamond Days in the early part of this season:
"We’re very happy with Diamond Days, he’s come back from his summer break well, and is in good form. We could start him back off at Fontwell next week, they do a great job with the ground there so it could be a good starting point. Although I am wary of starting him off on quicker ground, so we will be patient if we need to be.
He was one of a big group of horses we schooled this week and that all went well. We’ll probably still start him back over hurdles, try to build his confidence back up, and then go chasing again. Either way, we don’t want to jar him up so we will wait for the right ground."
