Jim Crowley Haydock Preview: He has an obvious chance of successfully following up
14:10 Haydock – Bolsena
She is a Kingman filly who is very nicely bred. This will be her second start on the track after finishing runner-up over this C&D earlier this month, going down by less than a length. She is nicely drawn in stall three. If she progresses from her opening run, hopefully, I can start the day with a winner.
15:15 Haydock – Roach Power
He was successful last time out at Thirsk over 7f. He is now dropping down to 6f, but he is a versatile horse who will be very comfortable with this sprint distance. The handicapper has put him up 5lb in the ratings, but he comes here in good form, and he has an obvious chance of successfully following up.
16:25 Haydock – Enfjaar
He is a lightly raced colt who has just had just the three runs. His last start was in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot. Up until that run, he had won his two previous appearances. He is a horse I like a lot. This will be his first time in a handicap off a mark of 98, and I’d like to think he’d go very close from that mark.
17:02 Haydock – Burdett
This will be my first ride for Jack Channon, a trainer who is doing very well. He is another horse that won last time out, as he was successful at Ffos Las over their extended 7f trip. That was a good step up from what he had shown on his debut at Epsom. He showed a lot of fighting spirit to win a close finish by a nose. I don’t think he will mind any ease in the ground, so it’s another ride I feel I have a strong chance with.
