Phoenix Of Dreams suffers 'minor injury' but shouldn't miss too much training time

30 Sep 2024
When you’re around racehorses as much as we are, very little surprises you when it comes to them finding ways of injuring themselves, but Phoenix Of Dreams almost managed to do that this week!

He stumbled, tripped up really, when being walked through the yard, and managed to cut his leg as he struck himself with another hoof. It was in an awkward place, right on his ankle, so we had a few stitches put in, and had him bandaged up.

The good news is it’s healing very quickly and there was no need for any further treatment, and he’s actually been back out walking on Friday, and at this rate we can get him back cantering next week.

As far as injuries go this was a very minor one, and will probably cost us a couple of weeks in terms of time lost, so not a major issue. His general fitness level is good, so we won’t need to do too much with him, and once he’s cantering again we’ll be in a position to look for his next outing.
