Pop Star set to step up in trip following his third place finish at Doncaster two weeks ago

28 Aug 2025
Pop Star has run really well on his last two starts, finishing second and third, although I did feel that last time at Doncaster he just got run off his feet a bit by the front two and couldn't go with them at the business end of the race.

He really does deserve to get his head in front and his best chance for that might be over a furlong further than the five we've been running him over. I don't think he's lost pace, I just think an easier six furlongs will make life easier for him. It will make it less likely that we'd see a repeat of Doncaster and if they went hard early there's more chance they come back to you over six.

He was dropped a pound for the Doncaster run, so he's now rated 79. Among the options for his next run are a 0-80 at Windsor on Monday 8th September and then races at Redcar & Yarmouth on Tuesday 16th, so we'll ready him for one of those all being well.
