Sean Bowen Aintree Preview: He's off a nice mark to take advantage

11 Nov 2023
Coral Racing Ambassador, Sean Bowen, provides an exclusive preview of his seven rides at Aintree this afternoon, including his mount in the Grand Sefton, Ganapathi.

12:25 Aintree – Minella Double

He won last time out at Hexham so he will need to carry a penalty here, which makes life tougher. I expect he will come on for his seasonal reappearance and he will love the ground. The track and trip should both suit him, so I am looking forward to riding him in the opening race on the card.

13:00 Aintree – Lord Of Kerak

He had some good form last season without winning, so he is still a novice. His jumping has been very good, and he is another horse who will appreciate the soft ground. If he is ready to go first time out, he should be a big player in this race.

13:35 Aintree – Hillview

His form over the summer was respectable but he does need to step up on that now on his return to action. He is a straightforward horse to ride, but I am not sure he will like the ground being as soft as it is going to be, as the majority of his best form is on ‘Good’ ground.

14:10 Aintree – Ukantango

This will be this horse’s first run over fences. He has schooled well at home, and he is one we have been looking forward to going chasing with for a while. The ground would be my only concern for him. If he handles conditions, he will have a great chance.

14:45 Aintree – Ganapathi

This is set to be this horse’s second run for Mike Smith. He was beaten a long way at Kelso on his opening run for his new trainer. Hopefully, he will step up on that run. The National fences can sometimes bring a spark out of some horses and if that proves to be the case, he is off a nice mark of 131 to take advantage.

15:20 Aintree – Brewin’upastorm

There are just three runners in this field so it could get tactical. He has been one of Olly Murphy’s best horses for a number of years now. We are going to have to concede a lot of weight to our two rivals, but he is a C&D winner, and he has run well in this race before, so he definitely has the class to come out on top.

15:
50 Aintree – Apples Destiny

This is the first day at school for Apples Destiny in this Bumper for three-year-olds. She will be receiving 3lb from the opposite sex in the race. We will be hoping to see a nice performance from here on her opening outing.
