Sweet Katarina set for exciting Bath return on Monday!
Our lovely young filly Sweet Katarina could be back in action on Monday as she holds an entry at Bath, with the team eager to see her continue the encouraging progress she's made in her first three racecourse appearances!
Trained by William Muir and Chris Grassick, our daughter of Sergei Prokofiev has been learning her trade against some talented opposition. After making her debut at Kempton in August, she took a pleasing step forward at Ascot in September, showing plenty of natural speed as she broke sharply from the stalls and raced enthusiastically at the head of the field.
Her latest appearance at Nottingham was arguably her most encouraging yet. Taking on some smart and expensive fillies, Sweet Katarina showed real enthusiasm and a lovely attitude, racing prominently for much of the mile before finishing a respectable fifth. She stuck to her task admirably in the closing stages and gave us plenty of reasons to be excited about what lies ahead.
That performance earned our girl an opening handicap mark of 69 and Monday could see her make her handicap debut in the 15:47pm (Class 5) Nursery Handicap over a mile.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that the ground at Bath will be favourable for her and provide the right conditions to show more of the ability she's been displaying as she gains experience.
Chris Grassick and the team have been pleased with her development and we're absolutely delighted at the prospect of seeing our girl back on the racecourse so soon! She's growing in confidence, learning with every outing and showing us more of her character each time she runs.
Keep your eyes peeled for our declaration video, where we'll bring you the latest news on Sweet Katarina's potential return to action and all the details ahead of Monday's race!
We can't wait to see her back in action on Monday and hopefully taking another exciting step forwards!
