WATCH: Sycamore hits the frame on his debut run for the club at Southwell | Raceday Highlights

Sycamore
It was a positive start to Coral Racing Club life for Sycamore on Tuesday at Southwell as he finished in 3rd place in the 19:00 Class 6 Handicap.

Trainer Scott Dixon had told us in his updates leading up to the race that Sycamore had been working well at home and that he expected him to finish in the places.

Sycamore's lucky 10 Owners for the Day, who got the chance to attend after entering the Owner for the Day competition, each got to take home an equal 10% share of the £733 prize money Sycamore won.

The seven-year-old gelding had been off the track for almost two months after finishing 4th at Southwell back in February, so it was pleasing to see him continue his consistent run of form by hitting the frame and hopefully he can look to go one better next time out.

Latest update from Scott Dixon

"All is good with Sycamore post-run. I’ve already found a couple of potential races for him later this month.

The first option is a 56-75 handicap over 1m at Pontefract on the 22nd of April. The second option is a 51-70 handicap over 1m at Yarmouth on the 23rd of April.

I wouldn’t want it too soft at either of those two courses. In an ideal world, it would be as close to ‘Good’ as possible. He’s a bit unknown on the turf, as all his turf form was as a two and three-year-old for his former trainer Martyn Meade. His running style would suggest he will handle ‘Good’ and ‘Good to Firm’.

I’ve looked at the 14-day weather forecast and it’s largely dry at both venues. So I reckon we should be set for either of those. The Yarmouth race is a weaker one, and I think the course will suit him, so that would be the primary choice of the two."
