Raceday LIVE Preview

From the home of National Hunt racing to the heart of Lincolnshire, our star mare, All The Glory, is covering some serious miles in her opening campaign as a chaser. We last saw her in action at the Cheltenham Festival as she lined up against the very best in her division, and although she came home a distant seventh that day, she far from disgraced herself in company of that calibre and it marked an occasion we'll remember forever.

Fast forward just over a month to today and it's all systems go for yet another competitive affair at Market Rasen in the feature race on the card, which is worth a lucrative £50,000. All The Glory is set to lineup against six rivals (Ruby Island NR), with Jasmine Bliss and Bluey being familiar faces having raced against the pair already this season. She tasted defeat on those occasions, but once again still put in two really good performances, and with her mark now down to 125, she's carrying far less weight which is certainly in her favour.

Jockey Richie McLernon takes the reigns today on All The Glory and there's no doubt he'll still be riding a wave after finishing fourth in Saturday's Grand National on board Johnnywho. Richie has a good history with All The Glory having ridden her in her maiden victory over hurdles back in May 2023, and the thirty-nine year old has plenty of experience around Market Rasen having ridden there 230 times so far in his career (including 21 wins).

The ground at Market Rasen is currently described as 'Good' and that should suit our mare. She's shown form across various conditions, but the team at Jackdaws Castle believe she prefers slightly better ground, and with no rain forecast, the going should be more than suitable.

Racing TV Analyst, Chris Dixon, previews today's contest and gives his view on All The Glory's chances

Having contested a Grade 2 and a Listed race on her last two outings, All The Glory drops back into handicap for a valuable prize at Market Rasen. A previous course winner over hurdles, the track is clearly one that suits while she’s pretty versatile as regards ground conditions while the form of the stable is also a positive. Handicapping wise she looks as well handicapped as anything in the race given she’s 2lbs lower than for her last win, while her recent form at both Windsor and Huntingdon suggests this is a workable mark if on her A-game. Pace wise there are a couple of regular front runners and prominent racers so hopefully the tempo of the race will suit All The Glory who often travels well from off the pace, though even if it did turn into a relative sprint finish she is also proven in that scenario.

All things considered, All The Glory appears to have an each-way chance though the likes of Jasmine Bliss and Ruby Island (non-runner) who were both ahead of her at Huntingdon arrive in form and look significant contenders as well, though both are worse off at the weights this time. Molto Bene is in form but perhaps doesn’t’ have a huge amount in hand of her mark while similar comments apply to Bluey.

Trainer and Jockey Statistics

Jonjo & AJ O'Neill have had a difficult season so far, but in recent weeks they've began to see a real uptick in results with winners at Aintree, Haydock and Ffos Las. Since AJ officially joined the licence, the father and son duo have sent 42 runners to Market Rasen which has yielded 10 winners and another 14 finishing either second or third.

Richie McLernon has been in the winners enclosure twice in the past fortnight, but no doubt the highlight in that time period will be his fourth place finish in Saturday's Grand National at Aintree. The experienced jockey has been a stalwart for the Jackdaws Castle team over the years having ridden over 2,000 times for them so there's no doubt our mare will be in very capable hands this afternoon.
