Raceday LIVE Preview

All The Glory heads to Musselburgh this afternoon for her fourth run for the Coral Racing Club as she looks to add a second win to her tally since joining over the festive period.

On her first start for the Club she headed to Southwell on New Year's Day, and despite concerns about the soft ground, she followed up her Musselburgh win (before joining the Club) with another emphatic victory, winning by four lengths. Her rating was subsequently hiked up once more to a mark of 135, and that led to her featuring in the Grade 2 Mares' Hurdle at Ascot next time out.

Her next port of call was back at Musselburgh for the Scottish County Hurdle Handicap, and despite going off at 28/1, she still put in a superb effort off top weight (11st7lb) to come home in third place in what was a thrilling finish to the contest, eventually won by the Alastair Ralph-trained Welsh Charger. The form of that race has received a couple of boosts with Old Gregorian (6th) going on to finish third in the Morebattle at Kelso, and Afadil (2nd) also subsequently finishing third on his next run in the Imperial Cup.

Since that day she's been ticking along nicely at home, keeping fit, with Jonjo & AJ doing what they can to make sure she's in the best condition for today's race.

Raceday message from Jonjo & AJ O'Neill

'Everybody at Jackdaws Castle is looking forward to seeing All the Glory run in today's contest. There are eight runners declared to go to post, and we have been handed a heavy weight of 12st 5lb. Fortunately, Ben Macey will take 7lb off her back, so that is a big boost. And as you know, Ben knows All The Glory very well, as he has ridden her three out of her last four runs.

She ran well at Musselburgh last time out when finishing third. That was over a shorter trip than this. I do feel this is her preferred distance, so hopefully she can step up on that run, especially after having some time off to freshen up.

It is incredible that the next best horse in this race is 20lb lower than us in the weights, but at the end of the day, we are the highest rated runner in the field. I do think there are a couple of progressive runners in there, including Rockola Vogue and Lady Babs, so it should be competitive.

There is a nice prize pot at stake, and hopefully, the CRC Owners for the Day can take home most of it.'

All The Glory returns to Musselburgh with conditions in her favour for a tilt at the valuable series final of the Go North Series Mares division. A winner over course and distance back in November, she’s largely held her form well since and proved she’s not reliant on a strong tempo when following up at Southwell in January. The expectation is she should run well again in what is a lower class race than when third last time and her lofty rating of 135 means over half the field (5 in total) are running from out of the handicap which increases her chance from a handicapping standpoint.

Rockola Vogue is unexposed and open to improvement after just one run in a handicap so far and looks the horse to beat for last year’s winning stable. She ran much better than the bare result when a never nearer second at Wetherby on her handicap debut last time and looks favourably treated despite a 5lbs rise for that defeat, but she will need to jump more fluently which doesn’t look certain given her propensity to make mistakes.

Lady Babs is thriving at the age of 11 but this is a better race than those she’s been winning, while she also has a 7lb penalty to contend with alongside a longer trip which looks further than ideal.

The return to further looks a positive for She’s Notjoeking who found the drop to 2m1f against her when third behind the progressive subsequent dual winner Ascending Lark at Newcastle last time and looks one of the more appealing types in the field.

In summary, though, All The Glory is down in grade under ideal conditions and with some question marks against her key rivals, looks likely to go close.

Trainer and Jockey Statistics

Jonjo & AJ O'Neill have been struggling a little for winners lately, with only one coming from their last 29 runners, but they have been knocking on the door with five of those coming home in second place.

Benjamin Macey finished third yesterday on his only ride of the day at Chepstow for trainers Jonjo & AJ. He's hit the crossbar twice in the past couple of weeks, so there's no doubt he'll be hoping he can get back in the winners' enclosure today with All The Glory. Ben has ridden our mare in three of her last four starts, including her debut win for the Coral Racing Club and her third place finish at Musselburgh last time out.
