Raceday LIVE Preview
Rewind the clock back to November last year and everyone at the club was very excited with the prospects of Cast No Shadow following his promising second place finish over course and distance. The horse in third that day, Sports Coach, subsequently went on to win back-to-back contests before reappearing for the new flat turn season off a mark of 90 before competing in two very competitive races.

Following that run, Cast No Shadow continued to show some decent form, barring a poor effort at Kempton which was over six furlongs, but then when the right opportunity arrived, he duly obliged by bolting up at Newcastle again over his preferred five furlong trip.
Ahead of the flat turf season, Cast No Shadow was gelded, but unfortunately two runs on the grass led to two last place finishes, and although he probably had excuses on each occasion, trainer Hugo Palmer was quick to make the decision to focus back on the all-weather for his next run at least.
The Coral Racing Club team paid a visit to Manor House Stables on Monday this week, and this is what Hugo Palmer had to say about Cast No Shadow ahead of today's race.

We're delighted to have the services of former Champion Jockey, Silvestre de Sousa, as he makes his Coral Racing Club debut for Cast No Shadow's tenth run for the club. Silvestre has been in great form so far this season and comes to Newcastle fresh off the back of a victory and two second place finishes at Salisbury yesterday.

Trainer and Jockey Statistics
Hugo Palmer has sent out six winners in the past two weeks and is operating at a 19% strike-rate on the all-weather at Newcastle so far this year with three victories from 19 runners (6 placed).
Silvestre De Sousa has piloted eight winners in the past two weeks, including Listed and Group 1 success as he rode Charyn to victory at Royal Ascot in the Queen Anne Stakes. This will be Silvestre's first ride for Hugo Palmer this season, so hopefully he can make it a winning one.
Timeform | Verdict
RAINYNITEINGEORGIA made a respectable start for her new yard at Goodwood and, with the benefit of a recent run, she should have enough to capitalise on a drop in grade switched to tapeta. Stash The Cash arrives in good order and looks a danger, while Cast No Shadow is likely to make more impact back on tapeta.
Today's opposition
- Rainyniteingeorgia made her first start for new trainer Alice Haynes back in May after moving from William Jarvis' yard and she made a promising start finishing third in a Class 4 handicap at Goodwood. That was only her fourth start of her career and she previously won on the all-weather at Lingfield so there could be more to come today.
- Stash The Cash has been in good form on the turf so far this year, most notably with his second place finish behind subsequent Royal Ascot Handicap winner, Pilgrim. If he can transfer his turf form onto the all-weather for his tapeta debut then he could go close.
- Torvar is a previous course and distance winner for David O'Meara and returns to Newcastle off a 2lb lower mark than when he won back in February.
