Raceday LIVE Preview
Diamond Days had two options on this afternoon's card, with trainer Joe Tizzard opting to declare him for the chase contest over the hurdles race that he'd also been entered in. Having looked at the respective fields, the decision was made as this looks like a better contest for Diamond Days, with the consideration that he's been racing over fences on his last two starts, coming in November and December.
Diamond Days was sent off favourite for his last race at Fontwell after strong late support, however he was unable to deliver the goods with the testing heavy ground getting the better of him. Trainer Joe Tizzard was happy to put a line through that effort given the conditions, especially after Diamond Days had shown such promise on his chase debut at today's track the time before.

Eleven runners go to post today, with the top two in the market, Lady Pretender and Begin The Luck, both coming into the race having won on their last start over the 2m4f distance. They aren't the only previous distance winners in the race, with both Constant Friday and Stardhem having won over this trip previously too. Diamond Days is towards the lower end of the handicap in this race off his mark of 90, 10lbs less than the top weighted Desert Halo but 16lbs higher than the lowest rated horse in the race, the previously mentioned Constant Friday.
Trainer Joe Tizzard provides a raceday update on Diamond Days ahead of his third start over fences
"We're heading back to Lingfield with Diamond Days, it's a track he ran a lovely race at over hurdles when the ground wasn't too dissimilar to how it will be today. We found a little issue with him after his last run, but that's all sorted now and we took the opportunity to give his flu jab whilst he was having a break. Since coming back he's been schooling really well at home, especially on Wednesday morning with Brendan Powell onboard.
We'll just drop him into the middle of the field this afternoon and let him get some jumping rhythm, let him creep into it and hopefully see him run a big race. I'd say his best two runs to date have been around Lingfield, so we're looking forward to sending him back there today.
Good luck to everyone and fingers crossed he goes well."

Racing TV Analyst, Chris Dixon, breaks down today's race at Lingfield and tells us how he rates Diamond Days' chances in the contest
Although he’d looked as though an increased test of stamina may suit when not beaten far over this course and distance two starts ago, Diamond Days didn’t see his race out when upped in trip at Fontwell last time so it’s no surprise to see him back at shorter here. The fact he returns to a track where he’s run well on both previous visits looks a plus and with the form of his run here in November boosted by the winner since, that effort has some substance. It might be that an evenly run race over 2m4f on slowish ground is about the optimum test for Diamond Days and as such I suspect he has sound each-way claims.
Lady Pretender and Begin The Luck both arrive on the back of a win so have to be considered, though it’s not that hard to pick holes in the form of either so for all they looks of interest the market perhaps has them shade short. Constant Friday ran well when second last time but on a line through the winner Diamond Days appears to have a better chance.
Trainer and Jockey Statistics
Joe Tizzard's season has slowed down somewhat, after an absolutely electric few weeks in the Autumn. He's only landed one winner in the last fortnight from his 18 runners, coming at Wincanton on Thursday. The Dorset based trainer has a solid record at Fontwell, with 17 winners from his 90 runners at the course, and four of those have come from his 17 runners there this season.
Brendan Powell has also had a quiet period recently, having seen two winners in the last fortnight from 25 rides (one for Joe Tizzard and one for Dan Horsfield). His record at Fontwell has been solid over the course of his career (12% strike-rate), and this season it's been even better so far, with four wins from 21 rides. Being Joe Tizzard's stable jockey means that he's seen a fair few winners for the trainer over the years, but has kept up a 14% strike-rate over the course of his 941 career rides for the trainer.
