Raceday LIVE Preview

Our three-time winner Phoenix Of Dreams is back in action on Monday afternoon and he's heading to a racecourse that holds some wonderful memories for the Coral Racing Club! Trained by John and Sean Quinn, our five-year-old gelding returns to Redcar almost two years to the day since recording his first career victory at the Yorkshire track. With another success added to his record earlier this month and some excellent recent form behind him, there's plenty to look forward to as he prepares for his latest assignment.

Jason Hart takes the ride on Monday, replacing Rowan Scott who partnered Phoenix Of Dreams to his latest victory at Kempton. Jason knows the Yorkshire tracks extremely well and we're looking forward to seeing what the pair can produce together.

Phoenix Of Dreams has been giving us plenty to cheer about recently, most notably at Kempton on 9 October when he recorded his third career victory in a seven-furlong Class 5 handicap. Partnered by Rowan Scott, he produced a determined finish to get the better of Bold Shout by a neck, adding another success to his growing record. That victory followed an encouraging runner-up performance at Southwell on 24 September and it's fantastic to see him maintaining such a competitive level of form. His other success this year came at Newcastle in March, also over seven furlongs, demonstrating his effectiveness over Monday's distance.

There's a great deal to admire about a horse who continues to deliver competitive performances across different racecourses and surfaces. Phoenix Of Dreams has developed into a thoroughly genuine performer and his recent results are a credit to the work being done by the team at home. Redcar will always have a place in Phoenix Of Dreams' story. On 28 October 2024, he opened his winning account over six furlongs on heavy ground, showing that he could handle demanding conditions and see his race out strongly. Almost two years later, he returns as a more experienced racehorse with three career victories under his belt. Monday's seven-furlong trip is one he knows well and the prospect of some ease in the ground could play to his strengths, given his previous success on testing turf.

The opposition

Monday's Class 5 Selling Handicap brings together a field of experienced runners and there are several interesting opponents to consider. Wodao, trained by Steph Hollinshead, is among the higher-rated horses in the field and brings winning form into the race. His recent performances suggest he could be a significant player. Dion Baker, representing Michael Wigham, is another established seven-furlong performer who has demonstrated his ability to compete at this level. Rascal Recknell, trained by Michael Appleby, also features among the entries and adds further depth to the opposition. Phoenix Of Dreams carries 9st 13lb off an official rating of 68 and will need to be at his best to get the better of some experienced rivals.

Can Phoenix Of Dreams make it four? There are some encouraging factors in Phoenix Of Dreams' favour as he prepares for Monday's assignment. He's arriving off the back of a victory, has previous winning form at Redcar and has already demonstrated his effectiveness over seven furlongs. His ability to perform on both turf and the all-weather gives his connections options and it's encouraging to see him maintaining his form as we approach the closing stages of the Flat season.

Of course, every race presents its own challenges and Monday will be no exception. The opposition includes several experienced handicappers and the prevailing ground conditions could have an influence on how the race unfolds. Nevertheless, our boy has earned his place among the contenders and we're looking forward to seeing what he can produce.

From that first victory at Redcar to his latest success at Kempton, Phoenix Of Dreams has given Coral Racing Club members some wonderful moments. He's a horse we're enormously proud of and we'd love nothing more than to see him add another chapter to his winning story.

Three wins on the board. A return to the scene of his first success. Could Monday be the day Phoenix Of Dreams makes it four?
